MeroShare: IPOs, holdings and the EDIS transfer
MeroShare is CDSC's portal into your Demat account. This guide walks through the first login, applying for an IPO or rights issue, checking an allotment, reading your portfolio, and the one step every seller must do — the EDIS transfer — plus the annual renewal that keeps it all working.
On this page
First login
Three identifiers, one temporary password, one PIN.
Collect your credentials
When your DP opens the Demat with MeroShare, you receive a username (usually your BOID's last eight digits) and a temporary password by email or SMS. You also need your DP ID — the depository participant you pick from the list on the login screen.
Sign in and change the password
Open meroshare.cdsc.com.np or the app, choose your DP, enter the username and temporary password, and set a new one immediately. Then set a transaction PIN under My Details — you need it for every application and EDIS.
Check My Details
Confirm the bank account, mobile number and email. Dividends, IPO refunds and OTPs go to whatever is recorded here.
Nobody from CDSC, your DP or your broker will ever ask for your password or PIN. Log in only at the official address; treat any call or message asking for credentials as fraud.
Applying for an IPO, FPO or rights issue
My ASBA, the CRN, and how allotment works.
Public offers in Nepal are applied for through ASBA (Application Supported by Blocked Amount): the money stays in your bank, blocked, until the allotment is decided. To use it online you need a CRN — the C-ASBA registration number your bank issues once you have a Demat linked to the account. Ask the bank for it if it did not come with your Demat papers.
My ASBA → Apply for Issue
Open issues are listed with the closing date. Pick the company and check the issue type (IPO, FPO, rights, mutual fund).
Bank, quantity, CRN, PIN
Choose the bank account, enter the number of shares (the minimum for an IPO is 10; a typical Rs 100 issue means Rs 1,000 for 10 shares), enter your CRN and confirm with the transaction PIN.
Allotment
Oversubscribed IPOs are allotted by lottery in units of 10 shares, so a large application does not improve your odds. Results appear in My ASBA → Application Report and on the issue manager's site; allotted shares are credited to your Demat and unallotted money is unblocked.
Selling: the EDIS transfer
The step most first-time sellers miss — and it has a deadline.
When you sell shares on NEPSE, the broker has to deliver them to the buyer on T+2. You authorise that delivery yourself through an Electronic Delivery Instruction Slip (EDIS) in MeroShare, by the next working day after the sale (T+1). Miss it and the sale fails to settle — the broker may buy the shares back at your cost and charge a penalty.
My EDIS → Transfer Shares
The sale appears with the symbol, quantity and the broker. Select it.
Confirm with your PIN
The shares move from your Demat to the broker's clearing pool. Your broker sees it at once.
Money on T+2
Sale proceeds, net of commission, fees and capital-gains tax, are paid to your bank or broker balance on the second working day.
Reading your portfolio
What the numbers on My Portfolio mean, and what they do not.
- Current balance
- Shares free to sell. Bought shares appear here after T+2 settlement.
- Previous closing / LTP
- The last traded price NEPSE published, used to value the holding. It is not the price you will get on sale.
- Value as of LTP
- Quantity × last traded price. Add all rows for the portfolio value; it ignores your cost, so it is not your profit.
- Transaction history
- Every credit and debit with its reason: purchase, sale, bonus, rights, IPO allotment, transfer.
- Pledged shares
- Shares used as loan collateral. They stay in your account but cannot be sold until released.
Keeping it working: renewal and housekeeping
An expired MeroShare cannot apply or transfer.
- Renew before the expiry date. After expiry the account still shows your holdings but blocks applications and EDIS until paid.
- Update details through your DP when your bank account, phone number or address changes; MeroShare shows them but the DP records them.
- Forgot the password? Use Forgot Password with your DP, username and registered email; the PIN is reset the same way.
- One login per Demat. If you have Demat accounts at two DPs you have two MeroShare logins; holdings do not merge.
What to remember
- MeroShare does not hold your shares — it is your window into the Demat: apply for issues, see holdings and transfer sold shares.
- IPOs, FPOs and rights are applied for in My ASBA with your CRN and PIN; the money stays blocked in your bank until allotment.
- Oversubscribed IPOs are allotted by lottery in lots of ten shares, so a bigger application does not improve your odds.
- Every sale needs an EDIS transfer by the next working day (T+1) — and MeroShare must be renewed (Rs 50 a year) to do it.
