Portexa Platform Guide
Work through these steps beside the actual tool. Academy content and calculators are public; portfolio and analysis pages retain their existing account and subscription access.
Check a trade outcome
- Enter fictional buy price, sale price, quantity and holding days.
- Read the configured fee basis and all-in cost, then compare gross and net results.
- Change the sale price to a loss case; note which values change.
- For a real trade, reconcile the result with the contract note and applicable schedule.
Read a figure behind a score
- Select a bank and a reporting month; record the cutoff and peer class.
- Inspect the evidence and missing-input details beside the score.
- Trace a ratio to its financial figures and stated annualization basis.
- Compare the same elapsed fiscal period; separate a missing score from a measured weak result.
Compare companies before assigning a value
- Choose companies from the same sector.
- Check each figure’s reporting date and units before comparing P/E or P/B.
- Write your own cautious, base and optimistic assumptions using the valuation worksheet.
- Record why the selected model fits; a comparison screen does not by itself produce intrinsic value.
Turn a risk budget into a position
- Enter entry, stop, target, capital at risk and portfolio size.
- Read quantity, reward-to-risk and exposure together.
- Reduce the risk budget and compare the outcome.
- Allow for cash, fees, liquidity and a worse-than-planned exit.
Inspect a broker-flow observation
- Choose the symbol, date range and broker scope; save them with your note.
- Compare buying, selling, net quantity and net value with their units.
- Check whether a filter excludes part of the market and whether the observation persists.
- Write facts, possible interpretations and unknowns separately; do not identify a client from a broker code.
Review a portfolio and record your reasoning
- Record holdings, cash and the valuation date.
- Check name and sector concentration and upcoming cash needs.
- Compare results over the same period, with a consistent treatment of cash flows.
- Use the Academy research brief to save evidence, assumptions and a review trigger.
